Position: Business and Accounting Director
Compensation Package: Competitive – DOE (target $75-90k)) – Plus health/vision/dental insurance, 401k, paid time off, paid holidays, paid cell phone and provided equipment.
Who We’re Looking For:
Do you thrive with a mix of transactional detail and big picture thinking?
Are you passionate about improving business operations, a wiz at accounting, and at least have an interest in marketing and fresh fruits and vegetables?
Are you obsessed with accuracy, deadlines and details?
Are your communication skills always on point?
If, and only if, you answered “yes” to all those questions, what are you waiting for?
We’re Moxxy, a small-but-mighty, 14-year-old marketing agency specializing in the fresh produce industry. We’re seeking a unique individual (some would call him/her a unicorn) to become our Business and Accounting Director.
This special person will take care of day-to-day business and accounting operations, and support the CEO and the rest of the team to keep us focused on revenue generation and hitting our KPIs. This person will be adept at transactional detail work, but also enjoy being part of a tight team in a creative environment, while having an affinity for operations and seeing the big picture.
Moxxy has operated in a virtual environment since December 2019 (before the pandemic). All employees work remotely. We’re nationwide in scope, but our teams and clients are concentrated on the West Coast and in the Southeast. We’ll meet in person a few times per year, but on a daily basis, we work together, but apart, from our home offices. Our systems are cloud based, and we have daily video meetings.
This role is remote, working from your home office, but because we are moving our corporation to Florida, and for proximity to our Miami-based CEO, you must be located in South Florida (Miami preferred).
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Maintains all financial records, including posting and reports of GL, AP, AR, payroll.
- Generates financial system analysis and performance reports.
- Maintains business, employee and tax records.
- Monitors cashflow and advises CEO on cash management.
- Manages business assets for our remote team and oversees IT services provider.
- Manages employee benefit programs and handles HR functions (insurance, 401k, vacation, etc.).
- Manages relationships with vendors and freelancers.
- Meets regularly with our CEO to understand and guide the business.
This is a full-time, 5-day-per-week, 40+ hours-per-week job.
This is a great job for someone with 8-10 years of bookkeeping/accounting AND business management/operations experience. It will also be extremely helpful if you have advertising agency or similarly structured professional service firm experience where work is performed by a combination of employees, outside contractors and vendors. And having managed a remote team (not just the same city during COVID), will be the tip of your unicorn horn. You must be used to wearing lots of different hats; thriving in a vibrant and creative atmosphere; have a knack for organization; assuring details do not slip through the cracks; and interfacing continually with an over-scheduled, type-A CEO who remains integrally involved in the business.
Does all this sound exciting and perfect for you? Awesome! Send us your resume, salary requirements and a cover letter demonstrating your enthusiasm for the job and your phenomenal communications skills!
Note: We do not use AI resume screening. A Moxxer (what we call our team members) is going to look at your response. A resume without a cover letter or note will not be opened. A canned cover letter that doesn’t speak to this job posting will be ridiculed at our weekly virtual happy hour. You have one chance to make a first impression – make it count.
